Since we were not putting up a tree this year my wife decided she wanted to display some of her many ornaments using a little bit different method. One way she came up with was to use a picture frame, fasten on some chicken wire, and hang it horizontally from the ceiling. She painted it silver and used short lengths of light chain to vary the height of the ornaments. Net-RackOverview.jpg (82693 bytes)

Here you can see how the chains are mounted into the frame. Four holes were drilled, one in each corner, and T-Nuts were hammered in from the face of the frame and threaded eye hooks screwed into the T-nuts. Regular nuts were tightened down from the back on the threaded eye hooks to lock them into place. Net-TopView.jpg (106617 bytes)
S-hooks are used to fasten the chains that hold up the frame to the eye hooks. Chicken wire is simply stapled to the back of the frame. Net-TopDetail.jpg (112930 bytes)

Two sets of chains go to eye hooks that are fastened into the ceiling. Net-ChainDetail.jpg (85448 bytes)
This is another interesting and different christmas idea. Christmas lights are placed in white plastic dryer pipe with a thick wire used to give it shape, and the whole thing is hung from the ceiling. Monofilimant fishing line is used to support it. She got this idea from a show on TV but can't remmber which one. Net-LightSnake.jpg (51698 bytes)
