  • Thomas Yale Married Mary Turner, daughter of Captain Nathaniel Turnerof New Haven, 1645.  Captain Turner was of Lynn, Mass., in 1630, andremoved to New Haven in 1638, and was lost at sea, with all his crew,in The Phantom, Mr. Lamberton's ship, which sailed from New Haven,January 1646.     Mr. Yale came to America in 1637, with hisfather-in-law, Gov. Eaton, and others, and settled in New Haven, as amerchant, in 1638, with an estate of L200.  After the death of Eaton,he accompanied his mother and Hannah Eaton, his half-sister, andbrother David, to England in 1659.  He returned to New Haven, andpurchased lands in that part of the town which is now Horth Haven, andpurchased lands in that part of the town which is how North Haven, andsettled on them as early as 1660.  He was one of the principal men inthe colony, a signer of the Plantation Covenant of New Haven, andfilled with honot many offices of trust, with credit to hmself, and tothe satisfaction of his friends and fellow colonists.  He left anestate of L479.     Captain Thomas Yale died March 27, 1683, aged 67years.     Mrs. Mary Yale died October 15, 1704, aged xx.Children:     John, born about 1646 in New Haven.     Thomas, bornabout 1647 in New Haven.     Mary, born October 26, 1650 in New Haven.    Nathaniel, born January 3, 1652 in New Haven.     Martha, Born May6, 1655. Died  January 13, 1670.     Abigail, born May 5, 1660Hannah, born July 6, 1662.  Married Enos Talmage on May 9, 1682Elizabeth, Born January 29, 1667.  Married Joseph Pardee of East Havenon July 30, 1688.  Died September 19, 1701.     In My Line (David C.Yale)         THOMAS, New Haven, son of David, born in Wales, cameprobably in 1637 to Boston, with Theophilus Eaton, who had married forhis second wife the widow mother of Thomas, and with hisfather-in-law, went in 1638 to plant at New Haven; there signed theplantation covenant, 1639, married Mary, eldest daughter of CaptainNathaniel Turner, had: John, born abbout 1645; Thomas, about 1646;Elihu, said by Dr. Stiles to have been born 5 Apr. 1648, but somedoubt, whether he was same of Thomas, or even born in New Haven,suggested that he may have been son of the brother David, or evenbrother, but the town record contains not the birth of either of thethree; Mary, 16 Oct. 1650; Nathaniel, 3 Jan. 1653; Martha, 6 May 1655,baptized 18 March 1660, who died under 16 yrs.; Abigail, 5 May 1660,baptized perhaps, 22 July following; Hannah, 6 July 1662; andElizabeth 29 Jan. 1667; was rep. 1672, and died 27 Mar. 1683. Hisestate by inventory of 7 May foll. was L479. and in 1684 it wasdistributed to the widow, three sisters. (Elihu not named but he mayhave declined to partake) and four daughters of who Mary had marriedJan. 1673, Joseph Ives; Hannah, married 9 May 1682, Enos Talmadge; andElizabeth married 30 July 1688, Joseph Pardee.  His widow died 15 Oct.1704.
