Notes
- Moses Yale Beach, of Wallingford, Coon., married Nancy Day. She wasdaughter of Henry and Mary Day, of West Springfield, Mass., and adirect descendant of the Brewster family of Puritans. Mr. Beach was aninventor of considerable note; among his inventions being a gunpowderengine, and a rag cutting machine for paper mills. He was chieflynoted however as proprietor of the New York Sun of New York City,which he purchased in 1835-1836. In his later years he resided inWallingford, Conn., where he erected a splendid mansion. Mr. Beachlearned the cabinet makers trade when a young man and for some years,later on, before he became proprietor of the New York Sun, he wasengaged in the manufacture of paper.
