  • Captain  of regiment he recruited in Revolution.  State legislatureand selectman, prominentin early Lee, Mass. history.  His was thefirst wedding in Lee.  Member of Congregational Church.     CaptainJosiah Yale, first of Meriden, Conn. afterwards of Lee, Mass. onSeptember 26 1776, married RUTH TRACY, (43) of Preston, Conn. Thismarriage combines or merges the two lines of Ancestors, the Yale andTracy, so that they will appear in the Yale line hereafter. This firstmarriage was the first marriage recorded in the Town records, one yearbefore the incorporation of the town. This couple were prominent inthe history of the town and the Congregational Church, uniting withthe latter in 1785. Captain Yale was a farmer and for many yearsrepresented his town in the Legislature and officiated as a selectman.He recruited a Company for service in the Revolutionary War, andcommanded the same. He died May 13 1822, at Lee, Mass. at the age of70 years. Mrs. Yale died at the home of her daughter Electa YaleHamlin, in North Ridgeville, Ohio, Aug. 17 1851 at age of 94 years.
