• Washington Yale, of Minneapolis. Minn., married Abigail Couch, March5, 1833. She died August 18, 1866 and he married Margaret GardnerPerry, May 1, 1871. Mr. Yale went to Minneapolis about 1859 andpurchased a tract of land which afterwards became a part of the veryheart of the city. Most of this land was in later years platted as the"Washington Yale addition" and now a portion of same is in LoringPark. In his younger days, he with his brother, Moses, published anewspaper in Danbury, Conn., and it is said they were the first topublish a continued story in a newspaper. Later on, before moving toMinneapolis, he was engaged in the dry goods business in New Haven andNew York. He died April 23, 1897 in Minneapolis, aged 90 years and 24days. Mrs. Margaret Yale died July 23, 1898. Mr. Yale had two childrenby his first wife, both of whom died in infancy. He had none by hissecond wife.
